After an Alaskan wildfire, fireweed is the first plant to emerge from the ashes of the former forest. In London during The Blitz, this wildflower was known as bombweed, because it was the first living thing to take hold among the wreckage in the bomb craters. In this painting, a fireweed blossom opens to the future. The threads of orange and pink in her petals are an echo of the fire that caused her growth.
This 24" x 36" acrylic painting on gallery depth canvas is signed, varnished, and wired for hanging.
